525 tds 94' vs 730 V8 92'
Hello! I'd like to hear (read) your opinion to decide buying a 525 tds 94' or 730 V8 92'. The price is the ~same in both cases and both cars are with AT and good equipement and normal condition. Actually the E32 is kept a bit better but nothing special.
PS. The 525tds has a small problem. When putting from N to D, the engine rmp goes up for a while. Is it normal? The salesman, of course, sais that it's ok and every second bimmer td is like this . |

Hi, I have a 525 tds ( UK ). Car does have a little power, althought the auto box tends to have the engine rev a lot, and does not allow the usual torque characteristics of a diesel motor to be used. It is always dropping down a gear at the slightest touch of the throttle. It is also very thirsty on fuel, approx 25-30mpg. I very rarely see 5th gear in the car ( 40mph/1000rpm ) as it will usually only go into 5th at about 70mph, then it does not have the power to pull the car along, and drops back down to 4th again. Perhaps a chip change for the autobox might help?? Dash cluster also seems to give trouble. Still a fine car though. cant comment on the V8, but i would expect it more expensive to run, but it will have a lot more power, and be nicer to drive..

Idle in the car stays the same regardless of which gear is selected. possibly a slight fluctuation as the drive is taken up, going into gear from N, but nothing really noticeable
