95 3.4 idle problem

I had a bad oil leak and also was losing antifreeze out of my monte z34. So I pulled the engine as figured the job, not to mention just trying to get the engine timing belt back on right would be a real pain. I got the oil leak figured out (and fixed) and was glad I put in new head gaskets and valve seals. I got it back together and back in and seemed to run ok but it doesn't kick up the idle like it use to when you pull it in gear or turn on the a/c. I idles smooth and ok cold or warm just sitting there about 900-1000 on the tach. If turn on the ac it drops to 800 and sounds like it has a intermittant miss. If pull it into gear it stays about the same and stays running. Smells alittle gassy too when do that. We drove it on a long trip this weekend and got 23 mpg running 75-80 on interstate. I been thinking i missed a vacuum hose but not found that. I can't remember how many inches of vaccum it is suppose to have but does have 14 inches at idle. it kicks up a few when increase engine speed. That part was ok before I tore into it. Am really hoping I didn't get the timing belt off a cog so am hoping is something else. Let me know what you all think or suggest. I looked around on the forum but nothing quite fits what I got. I really like the car and is fun to drive but seems I am always fixing on it. Thanks for any help or ideas you can give me!

This the 3.4 double overhead cam, or the single? I assume double since you said belt, not chain...

14" vacuum is too low, either you did mistime the belts or you have a vacuum leak. Also check for a clogged cat or an egr not seating.
