Evap emission pipe
Hello all. I've a 2000 Monte Carlo (LS) with 3.4 engine, 108K miles; i have a check engine light on and scanner code is P0440. Thus far, have replaced canister purge valve or solenoid, gas cap and vent valve. Still receiving code! Local shop says the Evap emission pipe is the problem due to the connector on the end is missing. Have any of you ever had to replace this pipe that connects to the canister purge solenoid? If so, is it difficult? The local shop states that it take 6 hours labor to replace this pipe. So I decided to try to do it myself vs paying them for six hours of labor plus the cost of the pipe which is $117. Do the gas tank have to be dropped to replace this emission pipe? The shop guy says it runs from the front of the car to the end of the vehicle. The local GM dealers don't have the part in stock. I found it on GM Parts Department: Buy genuine GM auto parts & aftermarket accessories at wholesale prices.
for $77 + $14 shipping costs; i'm considering getting one from a auto salvage yard. I would appreciate any feedback on this. Have a great day! thanks |

Re: Evap emission pipe
If you get one from an auto salvage yard, you'll know exactly how they come off, and how they go on. Good idea.
