Swappin Da Tranny 87 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

Hi guys. 87 Jeep grand wagoneer with a 5.9 litre and a torqueflite a727 transmission. Here is my question. My Tranny is shot and even when it wasnt the gas mileage was terrible due to the lack of overdrive i believe. Would i be able to mate up a Chrysler A 618 with the wagoneer without any major mods? If anyone knows Please Respond

Re: Swappin Da Tranny 87 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

Don't know if the A618 will fit.

I DO know that the 727 is nearly impossible to destroy and wonder how you did it.

That said, IMO you're best off rebuilding the 727 and if IIRC the rebuild kit runs about $100

EDIT: I also found this reference, to answer your question more specifically:

Good luck whichever way you decide to go!
