240 vs bmw

My friend just bought a 1990 bmw 325ix. He says its faster then my 1991 240sx, but i drove it and it doesnt seem like it is. He has 150k miles on it and i have 110k miles onmy 240sx. I have a 3in cat back exhuast on my 240sx. Both are standard, but he just learned standard and i have been driving standard forever. I can launch my car pretty good but he has awd.

Re: 240 vs bmw

Does he have any mods on his car? If not, I'd say it be close, with you as a better driver taking the win if he doesnt know standards that well. If he knows how to launch, he'll be able to plug the launch, but thats about it. I'd put my money on you. I've been able to take a few 240SXs (3 stock, 1 with intake, 1 I/E/C) but I also have an I6, and the E30s were running with the I4. Like I said, my money would be on you for this one, but thats just my .02cents

Wrong, the e30s besides the 320i are all I6s, the e21(318) is an I4. But the iX is pretty slow. You should be able to take him in your 240

Ya sure? The E30 ///M3s were fours, and when I did a quick search, I pulled up the 325ix as a four banger (review of a JC shark injector, a 'my e30' webiste)? Regardless, I'm still putting my money on the 240SX.

You are right about the M3s though, they are I4s but they're magical tasty sweet I4s that make lots of I6s have wet dreams.

Re: 240 vs bmw

My money is on the 240, just because of the driver. In manual, it's a lot depends on the driver. In automatic you just floor it or if you want, brake torque it.

Re: 240 vs bmw

Well # wise the 325ix is faster. A 91 240sx runs low 16s right? Well the ix can run a high 15. However thier numbers are very close so like everyone said its a drivers race.
