error code p0116 need help

Hi, I posted some other error codes and they are gone now. The new one came on after installing new water temp sensor, and the other codes are now gone.

I couldn't find too much on this but someone said that the Thermostat could be bad, " stuck open " and this could cause this error too.

Also my heat is not working. So could a bad Thermostat cause this p0116 error code and the heater not blowing hot air.

Any assistance is appreciated, thank you.

Opost that may help you:

If your thermostat is stuck open it is a possibility, because the fluid is not allowed to warm suffiently to warm up the heater core. Or you have major air pockets in your system and it needs bled out.

Try the above suggestions in that post and double check to make sure your fluid level is still topped up, their is no air in the system, and see if your heater hoses are hot or not when the engine is fully warmed up.

Does your overflow bottle seem to have excess coolant go into it? Then you may need to replace your radiator cap.

If your problems occured at the same time and the temp gauge seems to build up slower and stay cooler than it used to, a good bet is probably replacing the thermostat with a new OEM one.

Hope this helps!

Let us know what happens!

HI Dale,

Thanks for the reply. That error code is gone now, the heater wasn't working due to the control flap, " from the heater control on the consol was not hooked up correctly. So the flap that changes from cold to hot air was not functioning. Got that on right now, and now have heat.
