2000 Merc Mountaineer Check Engine light AGAIN

Good day. I have a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer (5.0L V8) that has the check engine light on AGAIN! I had checked it at Autozone earlier this year, and the code was "insufficient EGR flow." I replaced the EGR valve in February, and the DPFE sensor in March, and the light disappeared.

Well, it's the middle of July, the light has come back on, and the code is again "insufficient EGR flow". I purchased the valve and sensor at AutoZone, and don't really want to go through the same exercise again.

Are there any suggestions on what I can do? Could it be that the items I changed are not good, or could the throttle body be clogged? Thanks for any help you can give me...

Yep, insufficient EGR flow doesn't point necessarily to the EGR valve, the better (ie: less expensive) place to start would be with the passage between the EGR and throttle body.

If you have a handheld vacuum pump (like a MityVac for bleeding brakes) you can easily test the EGR valve.

I agree - carbon builds up and pluggs it up.

Can someone tell me where exactly the EGR valve is located on the 5.0?
