Unhappy Automatic Headlights not automatic 2000

My Automatic turn on and off headlights stopped working automatic on my 00 Montaineer.
I have tried the push mirror slider left, turn off engine, turn-on and push slider right trick that used to work but no longer get results.
Can't find a fuse # for this feature and haven't found a stray blown fuse.
Can someone help?

Re: Automatic Headlights not automatic 2000

Welcome to the forum!

So it sounds like you used to be able to cycle the switch on the rearview mirror to get it to work in the past. That would indicate that likely what happened is that switch is worn out and probably will need to be replaced in order to get your automatic lights working again.

Re: Automatic Headlights not automatic 2000

I've got a 2000 Mountaineer. I love it, but the thing has electrical gremlins, so you're not alone. I think it's probably the switch, you can find the whole replacement rearview mirror on ebay for around $50 bucks. But I think the fuse for that is probably there on the driver's side door fuse box. Could be in the back left quarter panel, but I doubt it. Don't know for sure never had to replace anything on that box yet on my car. I'd say take it to a dealership, and if they are any sort of customer friendly they will diagnose it for free or for the cost of labor (which would be less that $20).
