450hp new MG!!!!

Yup, the current MG will be in available with a version of the LeMans engine, a 450hp monster mounted amidships. Thats all I know, if anyone can get some more info, it would be appreciated.

But WOW!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think you're referring to the MGF. MG has stated that they will produce the X80, which is based on the Qvale Mangusta. This car is not a mid-engined car, it's front-engined and rear-wheel drive. Since this car already starts at 320hp, I would assume a road-going super-MG would start with this platform. And I don't think it'll have a version of any racing engine. Engine's I've heard discussed for new MG products (especially the new top-of-the-line sedan) is the Lotus 3.5L 350hp V8.

The Le Mans engine would not be a practical road engine, it would have a very short lifespan and have no power at low revs

The acquisition of Qvale could put an end to this super-MG. It would have been the small, current model, below. It is miata-sized, with a 94 inch wheelbase, making for a lot of fun

The LeMans engine would have to be changed significantly, as it could probably be made to 650+hp, so it will be detuned (longer stroke, lower compression, less cam, etc)

Here it is at supercars.net here

Displacement 2000 cc / 122.0 cu in
Power 335.6 kw / 450.0 bhp @ Not Available rpm
HP / Liter 225.0 bhp per litre

Does anyone else find this a little ahrd to believe from a road legal production engine.

I realsie this is only a concept but thats just completely unrealistic

I believe that is the actual LeMans engine. It is restricted, so you could probably un-restrict it, and tame it a bit, and still have near the same power. It does have a rather large turbo, also. And with Impreza STi's and Evo's making this type of power on the same displacement all day long for street-driven cars, it is very possible (if unlikely) to come from a manufacturer.

This is alot more than a JDM STi or Evo

All japanese manufactures have a voluntary agreement that they limit their cars to 205kw so this is what these cars are...The both break it so its abit more than that but not 335 or anything similar to that.

Many modified STi and EVO get alot more than that but they are along way from stock

I did mean modded. Also, there are 900hp Supras. They have 50%more cylinders and displacemnet than the propesed engine, but twice the power. I should have been more clear in my first post, though.

The 450 bhp mg is based on the ZT (it has rear wheel drive and a v8 of 450 pk) it's called the zt x-power. there is also a version with the 2.0 ltr lemans engine build in an mgf for promotional use only (mgf extreme)

The Japanese manufacturers have a voluntary agreement to limit hp to 280 (sorry for the use of English measurements) in ADVERTISING. It does not limit their actual power, they just say that it has "280hp" even if it has over 300hp.
