2jz eng swap

questions on the lgendary 2jz swap:

can you do it with an automatic sc? i mean if you get a manual conversion?

or can you even swap in a MK III supra eng. (GTE is it?)

basically if some one could give me basic info on common swaps for a sc300. or even just transmission swaps.

thanks in advance.

you can do the 2jz-gte swap with an automatic trans i think. or you could go with the mach iii engine which is the 1jz-gte. that is also the engine that is available with the jap spec soarer. the only difference is 3.0L and 2.5L. you can find info on it if you do a search.

Yes you can put the GTE engine in the car with an auto, but you'll want to use the auto that came on the Supra. The mkIII car has the 7m-gte engine, completely different. Your best bet is to turbo the engine that's in the car. www.Toyomoto.com www.Sound-Performance.com www.SupraStore.com all have turbo kits to do this.

2jz engines in the gs and the sc both come with an manual and an auto trans stock....
no matter if you have an auto or an manual you need at least one turbo on it.... with out it it's just slow.....for ex... i own an 91 LS400(V8 4.0) with 242,000 original miles on it, and i'll pick up an 92 GS 300 with out an problem....

Got boost???

Manual soarers or sc400 are as rare as rocking horse sh*t. Do the conversion with the R154 gearbox. The R154 was found on the MA-70 3.0 turbo Supras, and the JZA-70 2.5 twin turbo models, it’s a stronger gearbox, with a much more heavy duty clutch. The clutch setup is different from most in that the pressure plate is bolted to the flywheel AFTER the bell housing has been mounted on the engine block, via 2 small service flaps.

Either 1jz or 2jz is fine both will fit. 1jz's are cheaper. Buy one of them and spend the rest of your money on it.

PS- you will need the front half of the supra tail shaft or the hilux tail shaft is the same.
