AC Blower Motor Always on

Hey guys,

I have an 89 Old 98, it has the electronic control unit in the dash. Anyways, the blower motor always remains on, even when the key is off. I had to disconnect the power connector from the motor wo it wouldn't kill my battery. Is this going to be a short up underneath the dash that i'm going to dig out? Or would this be indictive of the control module not working properly? Any thought?

Ok, so tonight i was messing with the car, i plugged in the blower motor, via the two wire plug on teh back. After it had been running for a while, and I was finishing up I went to unplug the connector and the whole connector and wires were very hot. Is this normal? It doesnt seem like it should be. It seems like it may be melting the plastic on the insulation. What could this a symptom of?

You need a new blower power module, should be r/s of cowl under the hood, atop the evap case.

I'm assuming that is the unit that the wires from the blower motor feed into. Is this a junkyard item? I don't think I saw anything like that on any of the car parts websites.

Should be available from Napa, maybe you/ or they are using the wrong terminology

I assume this is the module you are talking about. Is there a way to disconnect it from underneath the hood. I stared at it and tried to remove/disassemble with no luck. Is there a trick to removing this that I don't know?

if (Since) you have automatic climate control- you need the blower motor module--it is in the HVAC case on top- follow the blower motor wires back to it.

It is not in your photo- that is the power connector that goes inside the car-- forget it

I belive I found what you were refering to, it is the panel mounted right below the red box in the picture.

As far as folowing the wires back, when I follow them back the go to the power block at the side, unless inside the plastic casing the double back and I don't notice that. What does the module in the first picture do?

yep you found it...

The first photo is an electrical connector- has all the engine harnesses in it- plugs into the car when engine is installed- has a bolt in center to hold it in place-- you remove it only when you pull and engine out......
