Re: buick v6 swap

the roller cam engine from the mid 80s uses a differant cam since the engine has dis ignition it has a shallower timing cover because the camshaft no longer has the distributor gear on it and the oil pump is driven off of the crankshaft .
i am presently converting my 1987 3.8 to a carb intake and distributor
the parts that i had to change include changing to a non roller cam and lifters from an early 80s 3.8 and the timing cover with balancer and i had to change to v belt setup and a shorter oil filter as the angled oil pump put the filter touching the axle

Re: buick v6 swap

Instead of doing all of this looking for parts, why not just swap in a easier to find parts for chevy engine???

IF you use the stock engine bolt on parts from a V-6 fiero
AND use the 3.4L chevy block from a fwd gm car or van
Cast iron heads from ANY 2.8L 3.1L or 3.4L (not the aluminum ones) if engine has cast iron your one up already
Intake and distributor from a carbed 2.8L from a F-body, S10, Or X-body
Low pressure electric fuel pump or stock tbi pump with regulator and return line

And you now have a carbed fiero that uses easy to find bolt on replacement parts such as bolt-on STOCK exhaust system (no custom made parts) and stock engine mounts
Leave the speed sensor hooked up and pull the check engine light bulb

Or you could order the GM crate 3.4L fwd engine made just for the 2.8L carbed swap

You can also use the 3.4 from a 93-95 camaro by drilling the starter holes and swaping intake, distributor, and manifolds
