Cranking problems on 95 3.1 TS

The TS will crank then it won't. It was ok yesterday but this morning it acts like its not getting fire??? This has happened on several occasions. I replaced the rotor button and the cap a few weeks ago and it cranked right up. ( I also added a quart of oil) Sometimes all I have to do is put a little gas in the carb. (removing the breather cover first) and it fires right up. I can hear the fuel pump for a couple seconds when I turn on the switch so I know it is running.
Does any one know what could be causing this???

thxs

Re: Cranking problems on 95 3.1 TS

try the oil pressure switch. It is linked to the fuel pump and will shut the pump off if no oil pressure is sensed after a few seconds of cranking. When these switches go bad, they will not pick up a pressure signal soon enough and cause the ECM to shut off fuel. It's a safety feature built in to keep someone from running with no oil pressure. The fuel pump automatically kicks in when the key is turned on to pressurize the system, but will shut off in a few seconds if no oil pressure is detected.
