air filters

I just want some opinions on what u guys think about different types of air filters and air filter applications such as AEM, blitz, hks, and so on. the way i see it those kits are a waste of money but i want to know what everyone else has to say. i just have a cheap cone filter but it seems to do the job.

Re: air filters

I've heard that mushroom filters (GReddy, HKS) suck ass that that oiled filters (AEM, K&N, JWT) might cause the engine to suck in the oil, bottom line is, I've heard nothing but good for the Power Intake.

Re: air filters

i think he means the apex'i intake

the oiled filters wont suck oil into your engine because it gets soaked into the filter element. the oil just lets the filter absorb more dust, ect. while flowing more air.

its really a tossup among most filters but the shape of the filter element doesnt make too much of a difference. the only thing that makes a big diff(in my opinion) is whether it has a velocity stack inside the filter(like apex'i filter).

but seriously the filter choice will differ about 1/2 hp from the best to the worst. why do you think spoon sports only sells a drop-in filter to put in your stock airbox? they even use this on their race cars

Re: air filters

They all work. Its actually the size of the cone itself that matters, but air filters aren't exactly quantum physics. They are all either foam rubber or cotton. Then you have the generic papers.
