$260 for a pacesetter? He must be ripping you off. I paid $180 for mine (KA24DE) with second day air from Summit Racing. Or do you mean $260 including labor? $260 including labor isn't bad, but putting a header on isn't that hard. Three hours of work at the most. EGR is a pain, but that's it.

The only legal exhaust header for the 240sx is from Greddy for the S14 (95-98)

http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...es/amquery.php

Search under Exhaust System / Modification

I dunno about that.. I saw the ARB certificate for the pacesetter..

Any more, if this place put an illegal header on my car, being well established they would be responsible for a huge fine. And they know about that, so I'm pretty sure they wouldn't sell me an illegal part.

BEFORE you spend money on a header, find out why your exhaust manifold cracked because it will happen to an aftermarket header easier.

you probably have an exhaust hangar problem or the exhaust is resting on something.... or your exhaust(custom made perhaps..if so read on) is not made perfectly and not straight onto the manifold, with the exhaust piping bolted down or something it might stress the header if they don't line up perfectly

The pipe is cracked north of the cat where the two header pipes weld together (formerly under the heatshield), it was mostlikely cracked before the exaust was redone. When we removed the heat sheild we found several bits of debris, including one of the bolts that was suposed to be bolting the header in up top -_-.

Actualy that's not what we think the rattle is coming from though, at the bottom of the header where it bolts on to the pipe, one of the washers has rusted off (the whole pipe looks really bad rust wise). when I hit the pipe the noise was coming from that spot, not the crack. I watched them build the pipe in the first place, they did a very good job so I don't think that was the cause, I also remember hearing that horrible rattle well before I redid the exaust.

are there any heat shields on your exhaust or cat? sometimes, well often, the weilds on those break and they can make a buzzing or rattling sound like a MOFO specially at idle or just moveing at like 1-5mph from a stop.

I removed the heat sheild next to the cat, not the one up on top though (good idea to leave that on so when you go for smog it looks stock).

The heat sheild was causing some of the rattle, namely the bolt I found loose inside of it =(

Even with it off though, the main rattling is still there, has to be the header.
