Speakers Problem

Ok my subs were vibrating really bad. Well the ring around the outer edge was loose. Well the only thing pushing them was a 100w home stereo with a cd player that made it louder. Well i thought the ring came off, so i pulled it a little, and a part of it ripped on the outer edge. It sounded like paper. but if i were to glue the ring back on it would cover the rip so there wouldnt be a leak of air. even tho its a vented box. should i just glue it back on or put some duct tape over it first?
