Front end work
I need to change the lower control arm on my 01 taurus and while taking of the balljoint nut, the stud started spinning. Other than cutting the balljoint off, is there any other way to get it off. If I have to cut it off, do I have to press out the balljoint and press a new one in? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Front end work
A new control arm usually comes with ball joint. When I have a joint start spining on me, I but a large pry bar on the control arm and pry down to put pressure on the joint, then hit it with the impact. Other than that, you can cut the bolt or use a nut cracker. I would do the latter as those ball joints are famously stubborn when it comes to getting them off the spindle and it is handy to have as much of the joint for beating/prying/cussing as possible. Good luck on it!

Re: Front end work
If you have a small side angle grinder grind off most of the nut. Then use a hammer and cold chisel and split whats left. Just be careful and don't grind to much and damage something else.
