And the X5 is still very luxurious and comfortable inside, not as sumptuous as the new Range, which is also recommended, but still very high quality and comfort.
why would you say the 4.4 litre is better for tony?
the difference will be big by driving a lambo and then a suv but the difference won´t be too big by owning a x5 4.6 iS
the 4.4 produces 286 ps and 550 nm
the 4,6 iS motor is not build by bmw it´s build by ALPINA
i think it has about 340 ps i´m not sure.
i think tony wants to buy it new??? the waiting times are quite long so think about one with low milage about 2000-7000 km oh miles sorry.

The 4.6iS is great, you were close with the numbers, its has 347bhp compared to the 4.4's 286. But the 4.4's performance isnt that far off the 4.6's and its more comfortable to cruise in due to the slightly softer suspension. For a day to day drive i think this would be more cosseting and comfortable.

Thanks for all the advice. I think if I was single I'd look at the Jeep. I have to take into account that my wife will end up driving it a lot. So perhaps the LX300 or the BMW. On the other hand my wife may prefer an off-road vehicle. Sometimes women will suprise you.

A friend at work is happy with her Acura. Any thoughts?

Yes, the LX is a decent off-roader but when compared to the X5 cracks begin to show in its armour.

Acura i cant tell you anything about either... I think its the same as Honda or something to that effect...

I once owned an Acura Legend and I liked it. Today I have an Acura NSX and its excellent. My experience with Acura has been good. Is it the Acura SUV you dont recommend or just Acura in general?

well
the styling is quite good
about the performance i don´t know much

and the stiffness of the body is not the best...

but choose the car YOU like most!

well those are the top of the line Acura models you've experienced so it's understandable they were good! This is what i dug up on the Acura MDX SUv:

"Not X5 athletic, but more nimble than RX 300 or a Mercedes M-Class. Sporty at reasonable cornering speeds, with moderate SUV body lean, but feels typically unsteady in sudden swerves. ABS provides short stops with little nosedive, but the brakes were touchy on our test Touring model."

Looks wise i think its very average, kinda blends into the background
