04 S40 Headlight replace?

Need to replace the Left (drivers side) headlight assembly on my 04 S40. Does anyone know if I need to remove the bumper cover to get the headlight out?

Thanks

Re: 04 S40 Headlight replace?

Did you ever hear from anyone re: headlight removal? I have a 2000 S40 with a new headlight for the passenger side, but it looks like the bumper cover has to be removed to get the broken one out. If so, this is poor design.

Re: 04 S40 Headlight replace?

On my 2001 S40 - open the hood and there is a screw that holds the side marker/directional in. I back it off some and pull the side marker/directional straight forward til the guide pins on the back end clear. This helps with access to the headlites. they are a tight fit
