BMW Newb Question
Hey guys, i'm getting a new car soon and I was looking at 240sx's but then i saw a bmw and got an idea. I was just wondering what's the top models for the years of 95-98 im looking to spend about 10k and get a real nice bmw. I would like a 4 door and manual. Also can you tell me what the best models in those years were.( i kno i already said that but thats important to my question) Also what kind of engine modifications and upgrades are available, what engines they come with, and servicing. Anything will help. Thnxz

Well the best BMW from 1995-1998 was the E36 M3. The US Spec M3 had the S52 engine producing 240hp, was RWD, and weighed in around 3,100 lbs. The E36 M3 was called the best handling car in any price range by car and driver, beating the Acura NSX, Ferrari F355, Corvette, 911, Boxster, and others, which was quite a feat since it was one of the cheapest cars in the comparo too. You would probably have some difficulty finding an E36 M3 for $10,000, as the origional starting price was $40,000. Most E36 M3's are coupes, but there are a few sedans out there.
More likely for $10,000 would be a 325i or a 328i. Both are RWD, and handle pretty well, but not as well as the M3, nor do they have the power of the M3. Biggest problems tuning BMWs are the price and the low displacement engines.
