^^^ I don't about all that, my dad worked in a machine shop for about 10 years I'll ask him sometime. I know they cost that much, but I think its a rip off

i know the guy who designed the vls hinges spent a long time designing them so that they would work very well, i think hundreds of hours would be an understatement. designing, testing, redesigning, retesting etc. if he only spent 200 hours (i am pretty sure he spent a lot more than that) that would come out to $2000 in design lobor alone if he worked for $10 per hour. that would not include time on the cnc or the materials used and good luck finding someone to do a project like that for $10 per hour. what i am saying is that if you wanted to get one set just for you, i think you whould have a hard time getting what he has for less than $5000.
on the other hand, if you have access to cad tools and a cnc for free (the cad software is very pricy and the cnc that the vls hinges were made on cost about $1,000,000) then you could have these hinges for very cheap, the cost of the materials, which i would assume is in the range of a few hundred dollers at most. this guy can now sell them for $1500 because he can make a profit off of that and the hard part is done. also he spent a lot of time and effort to get air struts that were just right for our doors and he made a design that can open oem or verticle just by inserting or removing a pin. |

it is all about who/what you know
i know that they are making them for a few other cars. i think the eclipse and rx-7 were up next. looks like from your avatar that you got a 300ZX so i am not sure. i would go to their website (do a google search for vls or something) and get yourself and others from a big 300ZX board to bug him to make them for your cars until he does if he does not allready |

Okay, lets see if this works....if so this is me.
This is me closer up and I think I am in a casino... This is my franken-baby, long story behind this one...but he still looks good. And this one is just for fun out in the back yard. This is what I first starting racing in at age 12 going on 13. Just thought I would share a little.

lol, i like how you call the car "he"
nice to see more girls on a car site, did not really expect so many in a small community like this. just don't pull a nesryn and be another girl with an sl like it says you are planning in your sig, go for the vr-4 (braces for long distance punch from nesryn) funny, from far away you look like a nice girl but close up you look more like a red x, maybe put some makup on that or something |

Thank you. Close up should be fixed now. I know I should just go for the VR4, but for what year I am looking for is quite not in my price range and I am also buying the car from an auto broker. He is a friend of the family and buys from auctions nation wide, he says he only comes across VR4's once and a great while, but on the other hand he printed out 32 cars that up for auction nation wide and there were only Base and SL's listed. As much as I really want a VR4 right now is not the time, I guess. So there is nothing wrong with an SL, besides when I do bring home a VR4 it will have a SL waiting in the garage for it.
As for my little Honda right now, well, I call it a 'he' only because, it has never given me any problems for the hell I have put it through *knocks on near by wood real quickly*. I bought that car for autocross, not a daily driver, but unfortunately, to make a longer story shorter, I had to wake it up from sleeping for a year, yet not quite ready to be revived, had to put it on the road as a daily driver and it now has been two years on the road after sloppily put back together. Never dragged the car, remember it is a Del 'Slo' when it comes to that, but he handles like a dream. Tenzo; upper and lower rear strut tower bars, upper front strut tower bar, upper and lower, front and rear sway bars, open lower air intake, short shift, and 17" tenzo R rims with yokohoma *bad spelling maybe? Also Ibach struts and springs. Front and rear cross drilled rotors w/ ceramic pads. 2.5" exhaust from headers back, gutted cat and carbon fiber, if I remember right Flowmaster...? I happen to be working on the fuel rail up grades when it had to be pulled back out onto the road. Ohwell, it will be back in the garage soon though, at least shortly before my B-Day, becasue that's when the dead line is for the 3GTSL. There's a little more info.
