So heres the scoop, Was driving down the road just fine, died! Go to restart turns over 2 times each time I try to start, No start. I can hear the fuel pump kick in, ideas? Needs to help narrow this down. Oil level good, battery weak, but within specs, gas tank has 1/4 tank.....

You have good cranking action, but, no start? Use a gage and check fuel pressure. Some of the national brand autostores used to loan out a fuel pressure gage. Have a helper crank it, while you visually check for spark at the plugs.

Re: 1996 safari

Spray a little starting fluid down the intake and see if the engine catches or not. If it wants to go, you'll most likely be doing the fuel pump dance.

Make sure you replace with Delphi or A/C Delco brand pump module. You don't want to be doing it again sooner than you need to.
Oh yeah, also, you need to replace the in-tank filter (sock) and the in-line filter (canister) as a safeguard, and to not void the warrantee.

Don't run the fuel level down past 1/4 tank, unless you absolutely have to. Fuel cools the pump, and heat kills them long before they quit on their own due to high time.
