Re: 2000 Astro wont start

Your DTC's are in fact both EVAP related but will NOT cause a no-start condition.
The symptom you describe could be related to the Passlock anti-theft system. Was the "security" light on the dash illuminated just before it stalled? Is it illuminated when you try to start it now? If the security light is not illuminated, here are some things to check:
Check for a blue, not orange, spark at each spark plug while the starter is engaged.
Check fuel presure and leakdown: Ignition ON, engine OFF, fuel pump running, pressure must be 60psi to 66psi and must remain above 55psi for 3 to 5 minutes after the fuel pump shuts off.

Re: 2000 Astro wont start

1) Need to check fuel at the rail.
If No fuel, check fuel pump fuse & relay, and filter.

A smoke test, or a good visual inspection can find a leak in the EVAP system. The rubber hoses will leak with age, causing your DTC's.

The No-start sounds like a fuel problem, try starting with strart fluid.

Re: 2000 Astro wont start

I just had the same problem with my 1996 Astro Turns out from reading a MUCH older forum on here that it was the 'flat connector' behind the battery that ran into the firewall. Have you checked that?
Mine was extremely dirty and took some working to get unplugged but I noted a connector was melted (seems to be a problem with these vans)...I cleaned it best I could and plugged it back in and the van started. I am not sure how long it will last, seems to be a poor way of connecting 4 hot wires...

Not sure on the 'newer' vans if that is still an apparent problem but it was an easy fix and seems to have worked - for the moment anyway...

Made me feel good when I called my mechanically inclined husband (who couldn't get it working) and told him that I, yes ME, fixed the van
Good Luck...

Re: 2000 Astro wont start

Did tune up, new fuel filter and decided to drop the tank and check the new two month old pump. Well the pump was defective it worked but pumped the fuel back into the tank. Now I have a replacement which I notice was redesigned. Thanks to all with your help

Re: 2000 Astro wont start

My 2000 died on me and after a month of trying to find the cause I got smart and took it to my local garage.
My problem was a fuel pump that did not always put out the correct psi, It tested out at spec, then later would not start, it was the fuel pump , new pump plugs wires cap and rotor and it runs like new with 145k on the odometor.
Hope this helps
