Rare Bronco II?
Hey,
A buddy just purchased a 1986 Bronco II. This is a longer version with a removable top. It has "PLUS" on the side and AC Applied Concepts on the back. It has a 2.9L FI engine as well. We have tried looking for an answer as to what this thing is, but are empty handed. Any ideas? Thanks |

It appears to be a custom job, I've never seen a Bronco II like that. Even when they were still being made. Hopefully a more knowledgeable Ford or Bronco person can shed more light on it. |

Well At first glimpse it would appear to be. The guy we got it from said there were 2600 made and Ford recalled them because there is no structural support in the top. The interior is completely finished and appears stock so if someone made it custom they are crazy! Thanks

Try and contact Ford. THey may shed some light on it. Seems kind of rare. Worth something? Not likely but you'll be the only one to own one. lol

FoMoCo. will be able to give you the details on the package ordered for that by the VIN. They won't give you help on the production numbers, (that is, the number produced) but there are pay sites where you can have that looked up. (Like at the bottom of this page, sometimes...)
It's a really cool find. I'd like to see what it's like with the camper off! |

Ok, went to the local Ford dealer. They all were kind of amazed at he thing we brought in. Nobody had seen one before. We kind of narrowed it down to being a conversion similar to "Choo Choo Express" or something like that. We started to investigate the removable top, but it appears like if the top comes off, it is not going back on. Also the plaque inside says "ACLR+" but a google search came up with nothing. So we have this ultra rare, ultra ugly, mean machine. Thanks guys! Oh and its for sale if anyone is interested, I am in the Cincinnati area

What's the interior like for the extra section? Did they put more seating back there, or more space?

Re: Rare Bronco II?
They put more space. The interior plastics are longer as well so that is a reason we figured it wasn't a one-off custom job.

Re: Rare Bronco II?
very interesting...so its stock? even though it doesnt look factory, someone would have to be crazy to put money into a small B2 like that. what im tryin to figure out is wheather the FI is stock. i thought the 86' B2 was a carburated model, but i could be wrong.

Re: Rare Bronco II?
FI was around in 86. I don't know how many BII's got the treatment, but a throttle-body engine really sounds right to me.
