Re: Recap of 'Rest of the World' F1 Fleet

Henry, do you have contact with #063 owner ? I am not convinced it is still in HK.

Re: Recap of 'Rest of the World' F1 Fleet

I've seen plastic tarps used before, but never a complete wrapping in bubble wrap. I often wonder if owners have any idea what happens to their F1s during transport? This was #018 leaving NZ for the UK - my guess, prior to the F1 Tour last year.

Now I'm no expert when it comes to shipping a car, but am I the only one who thinks this elevated shipping palette idea looks a bit sketchy??

Hopefully that was just part of the unloading process from the flatbed, and not how the car went for the whole trip.

These kind of cars I think the money isn't any big thing. If you say, "I want that and that to the transport", it will arranged.

Re: Recap of 'Rest of the World' F1 Fleet

I found the outfit who did the shipping - they are indeed professionals, so perhaps I shouldn't second guess their work. I was just a bit surprised when I first saw the image.

Re: Recap of 'Rest of the World' F1 Fleet

For last years Paris-Dakar rally I was at Schiphol airport to do some photographing of a car transport inside an airplane, and there was a McLaren MP-4/12C in as well. And McLaren themselve didn't take any special precaution to avoid damage onto the paintjob.

I wonder if the workers knew how much the car was worth...

Re: Recap of 'Rest of the World' F1 Fleet

I actually thought it had a bit of a stutter or strange sound in the lower rev range. Not sure what was up with that?
