overheating
hi, this is my first time in this forum, but my problem is this: I just bought a 1992 honda accord ex and it was running fine. Last night, my bf noticed it was overheating and he checked it and a hose was leaking antifreeze. He fixed it, but within an hour it was leaking from another area and he is going to replace the hose today. In the short time I've had the car, the temp was always at a great level, but I worry that it might be a bigger problem. Is it possible to replace the hose as easily as he is making it sound? Also, my driver side door will not lock. In order to lock or unlock the car i have to use the passenger side door because the key just won't work on the driver's door. What could that be and how is it fixed, if possible? help ease my mind!

Re: overheating
Well with the overheating. I would suggest swapping the thermostat. It is the cheapest part to replace and often is the problem. Also swapping radiator hoses isn't difficult at all. I would also watch for white smoke coming from the exhaust, as that maybe an idication of a leaking head gasket.
As far as the drivers door locking. Do you mean it wont lock from the inside. Honda had a safety feature, to prevent you from locking your keys in teh car. Essentially, you have to hold the door handle open when you press the drivers door lock button. Then it will lock. Is that the problem you are describing...or are you saying the key lock on the outside of the door isn't functional?

Thank you for your reply, he has replaced the hose and seems fine, I'll keep a look out for the white smoke though. About the lock, what i mean is that the key lock won't work from the outside. I can't open or close the door using the key from the outside on the driver's side. I have to walk around to the passenger door to be able to lock it. thanks

Re: overheating
Could be the lock is just worn out, or maybe the key. You might try having a new key made and try using that one instead.

Thanks, I tried locking the door while holding the door handle and it locks!! I think more than likely it must be the lock becasue i have made another key and it still won't open. Is changing or fixing the lock an expensive thing and will i need new keys??
