351W rear seal

I have a 1980 F-150 4x4 with a 351W and automatic transmission. How difficult is it to replace the rear engine seal ?

It ain't too bad actually.
Provided that you are using a lift and a tranny jack.
Just a little time consuming, that's all.

Re: 351W rear seal

You have to drop the oil pan which makes for a troubling time due to your 4x4 unit. I'm not for sure but I think you should have the split seal which is very easy to replace due to the fact that you don't have to unbolt the tranny. I had to do this on my 351M which does have the split seal. I fought the oil pan more than anything and the pick-up tube was just a motherf*cker to get placed back!! You do have to jack up the engine, Best done with an engine host so there's no jack in the way. Not that big of a deal once you have done it before.
