Need ZX2 S/R info...
I have a 2000 ZX2 S/R. I was in the tear down process to change my timing belt when I noticed my kit included 2 idler pulley's(1 smaller than the other) and a tensioner pulley. My engine only has 1 idler pulley which is the upper larger pulley. The engine has the place for the lower smaller pulley and the lower cover is formed to cover it. Does anyone know if the 2nd pulley was added as an upgrade? Is mine just missing for some strange reason? Or was it not used on the S/R package engine for some reason? I am the original owner and it has never had any work done on it except by me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to AF. You're are right next door to me. I've checked around and the small idler pulley should be there, but If your's doesn't have it I wouldn't add one unless the belt has too much play in it to be tensioned properly. I'd say that if you don't have the lower idler pulley don't add one. The way it is now is the way you should keep it if you arent' having any problems with the belt. Problems with the belt.......put the small idler pulley on.

I believe the 98-99.5 had an extra idler, or they could have given you a set for a 2000 Focus (which may have another pulley, I'm not sure). Either way just use the one you need.
The S/R has the same pulley setup as every other 1999.5+ ZX2.

Thanks for the replies. I went by the Ford dealer and they are confused because it shows it should have it. It did run 134,000 without it so it can't be that big of a deal if I leave it off. That is the least of my worries.....The car quit on me (no spark) so I figured no big deal I'll do the timing belt and then check my crank sensor. Well the end of my crank sensor was worn off and since it reads off the flywheel I checked my crank endplay. I have .143" endplay. I pulled pan and lower crank housing and found my crank is shot. more later.

Some S/R's got bad bearings and ended up with crank walk.... sounds like you are one of those.
