1998 grand am am/fm radio problem

after getting a great deal on my grand am, i decided i really didnt want to spend money on a new cd player for it. Buti have a cassette adapter. so i stick it in and it works for like 2 seconds then it pops out and the radio says "E11' ive looked all over the internet for this code but cant find it. If anyone can help me solve this problem i would appreciate it

Re: 1998 grand am am/fm radio problem

E11 is a code for broken tape. Basically, your cassette adaptor doesn't put resistance against both rollers and the radio thinks that you put a broken tape in it. you could try flipping the adaptor over and see if it works in the other direction, but you may need to get a new adaptor that is compatible with your cassette deck.
