Question End of the Year Discounts ? Are they really a good Value ?

It's well known that new cars depreciate >15% in their first year and new car dealers get a tax break at the end of the year anyways.... So....

Are the end of the year discounts on new cars really a good value ? It appears dealers don't discount at the same rate as the depreciation rate.

If you buy a 2012 at the end of the year, the actual value will be far less (due to depreciation) than at the beginning of the model year.

So why aren't the 2012 models discounted at the same rate ?
