Volvo 940 -vs- ML55 AMG

This one was a long time coming...my roommate just got a 2002 ML55 AMG, and we both new my Brick was gonna be quicker in "race trim". But street trim, I kinda thought he'd hose me.

So the first race, I didn't know we were racing. lol. The light goes green as I'm fiddling with my camera, and about 1.5 secs later I hit the gas off idle. He's already thundering down the road at a good clip and pulling hard, until my boost hits...then his pull stops, but there's no time to even the gap as the next light is red.

We turn left, and this time I'm ready. Naturally, my Fry's Electronics el-cheapo batteries didn't have my back, as my camera tells me "WARNING: Battery Exhausted." Great.

So we go around the corner, I have OD clicked off. I stay behind him until he punches it, at around 30mph. I follow suit from about 1 car length behind. By 60, I'm going around him in the right lane, and by the time I hit 100, I was well past him and he let off the gas.

I think his car is supposed to run a 14.9 or so...not sure what trap speed.

So that puts me somewhere in the mid/high 14 range in "street trim" (91 octane and 11psi).

"Race Trim" (110 octane and 18psi) gets me into the 13's.

Not an amazing kill, but not bad either!

Motortrend 0-100@16.48 is all I found on time. Not many people taking these to the track.

Yeah, I found a few tests online...14.8 to 15.1 depending on the review. The 0-60 was low 6's.

The new ones (ML550 AMG) are 0-60 in 5.4 I think. Not bad for a truck.

Yeah, the old ML55AMGs weren't all that impressive, the X5s with the 4.8 could hang out about the same. Nothing like the SRT8 Jeeps or Trailblazer SS. Wouldn't mind any of the above, mind you. Good kill

Yes, hence my signature. 13's when the boost is turned up...apparently mid/high 14's when the boost is turned down.
