excursion door locks won't work
2000 ford excursion will not lock or unlock any door but the drivers door. it seems a little odd also that the drivers door will only work 2 or three times then it no longer works as well. You can hear the actuators trying to work but the locks don't move. I have a couple manuals/schematics and have gone looking for the door lock relays but can't find them. They are not in the relay box under the hood. I know door lock actuators would seem like a good place to start, but all of them at one time? Even the rear gate one doesn't work. Anyone have any help with this? It does have keyless entry and it only locks the drivers doors a couple times before quitting.

Re: excursion door locks won't work
Got the same problem on my 2000 limited, it seems they all went bad within 2-3 months. A real pain in the a$$. If it is the actuators ( a problem common to these Fords), the parts cost around $50 for each door, and 1.5 hours shop labor -- totals around $120 per door. Seems like Ford used crappy parts that couldn't handle the duty -- anyone know if Ford is doing anything about it besides ignoring the problem?

Re: excursion door locks won't work
Thanks for the input. I suppose I will go ahead and pull a door panel and check to see that voltage and amps are getting to the actuator. I was hoping one bad relay or ground was all it was and a simple fix. Thanks again. I still would like to know where the relays are located.

I'd guess it's a bunch of actuators that are shot. On other forums I've heard of people replacing every actuator on there Excursions at once. The list price for one actuator is $69.XX and the repair time given is 0.3 of an hour.
I replaced one on the F250. I bought one for around $60 at Ford got good directions at www.thedieselstop.com and it took me an hour to do swap. You have to really sneak your hands in the door which is the hardest part.

Re: excursion door locks won't work
Thanks for taking the time to give info. I went ahead this past weekend and pulled the door panels to find that all the actuators except the drivers door were bad. Even the tailgate. You would think lightening had struck the vehicle!!! Anyway they work now and I installed them myself and saved the labor fee at the dealership. Thanks again.

I bet now after replacing 4 actuators you're getting pretty good at it!
A woman on another forum said she bought an Excursion at auction for way under wholesale only to find all actuators were shot, dealer charged around $600 to replace them!!!

So you have used the genaric ones and they worked? I've seen them for sale for $9.99 on the net but have heard you have to modify them in most cases for them to work.

Ford revised the lock acuators for excursions. I have a quick method for getting them out that I use at the dealership and am yet to have a problem. Take a long prybar, put it behind the acuator, then snap it off. Crude, but effective. I've heard the .3 list time on them before, but that's pretty unresonable. Most techs charge .5 diag then 1.0/door
