Question 2002 Climate control problem

My 2002 Silhouette climate control functions just fine, other than it being in stuck in fresh air mode. I push the recirc button but it will not light up or switch over to interior recirc. Has anyone else experienced this problem or know how it can be fixed.

I have noticed that on my van the recirculate light will not come on UNLESS the air flow controls are in one of the last two positions on the left. That is, where air is supposed to come out of the dash vents.

Give that a try and let us know what happens.

Take Care,

So much for GM Engineering, eh? I wonder what their reasoning was? I may have to try and look it up.

Take Care,

Re: 2002 Climate control problem

Sorry to 'hijack' this thread, but it seemed as good a place as any to ask another 2002 Climate Control problem. Despite kind help from GregA, I still can't get the center console removed to access the units in order to deal with two further problems: Firstly, the driver's side slider no longer lights up (no biggy but annoying). Secondly - and more importantly - I'm getting lukewarm rather than cold air blowing out of the vents when the sliders are all the way down. The a/c is making a slight whirring noise when the button is depressed but other than that doesn't seem to be doing very much. The air is similarly cool rather than cold in the back of the van. Anyone else had this problem?
