98 honda accord starting problem
hI new here
but have been using alot of advice on this forum my problem is i have a 98 accord, starts good, but once i stop it will not start, engine turns but does not fire. I think it's either the fuel pump or the fuel filter, ior main relay? if it is this problem, how can i find out? also how hard is it to change the fuel pump or fuel filter?? any help would be appreciated. thanks Last edited by sam_25; 09-08-2004 at 07:45 PM. |

Re: 98 honda accord starting problem
It sounds like after your carwarms up it wont start. Is it getting spark? Are your spark plugs wet from fuel? If your not getting spark i would look at your coil. Unhook fuel line when it wont start and crank to see if you are getting fuel, be safer to use a fuel pressure gauge. if you are not getting fuel switch fuel pump relay with another relay in your car that is the same and then see if your getting fuel. If this doesn't work let me know and I will give you some more way's to figure out what is wrong. Hope this helps!

Re: 98 honda accord starting problem
thanks for replying
spark plugs are dry, and working. I tried unhooking the fuel line under the car, but no fuel was coming out, maybe i unhooked the wrong one or something. are there two pipes that go to the engine from the tank? one for air and another for gas? what i did do though is i pumped some gas through the line with a hand pump and it did start, i let it run for a while than stopped it, waited 10 mins, and it started up ok(after hooking back the fuel line). Can a fuel pump stop working and all a sudden work again? |

Re: 98 honda accord starting problem
by the way where is the fuel pump located at? i know some vehicals the pump is out side and some its inside the tank. once i had to change a pump once on a toyota tacoma and the pump was inside the tank, wasn't easy changing that sucker...

Re: 98 honda accord starting problem
before you start wasting money on fuel pump, i want to read this -> http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=268675
if that doesn't help then you can replace fuel pump, here instruction -> http://www.comptechusa.com/instructions/ins094.pdf this instruction for supercharger installation and under step 19 they tell how to replace fuel pump.
