Help please on engine swap!!!:) Very Important!
Hello all! I just purchased a 1995 MX6 2.0 L with 72,000 miles and am not satisfied with the power output because it only comes with 118hp and 127 tq. I have been looking into mods and allbut it seems the highest I will get is around 160+ hp, ect... with about a grand. I looked more and thought about an engine swaqp, and found a J-spec 200hp 2.5 L engine and transmission for about 1700-1800$$(Kl-ZE I think it is) and am wondering if the swap is difficult for a 2.0L MX-6 and if it was feasable which includes mounts ect...and how it could pass Calif. smog!!!! I have heard of these engine swaps on some MX-3's, but not really too many MX-6's. I rather save up another grand on a engine that comes with more hp stock than "wasting" my money on an engine with "small" hopes of being big. All help is very appreciated and all comments will be taken with gratitude. THANKS!!!
Oh yeah, I have an auto... -chubbs87- |

the 2 ltr is weak and it is costly, if not dam near ridiculous to fit in a ZE.. if you want the v6 sell your car and get an other...
or ther are some other good 4 pot alternatives.. or the good old turbo on your existing motor.. |

Re: Help please on engine swap!!!:) Very Important!
Hey Mr. MX^, are the old turbos suitable for the new MX6's ? What is the power gain likeand the cost involved would be better because they are used? How about reliability? Will I need custom intake, ect... Currently I have 900 bucks and will have 1500 bucks by Jan 30, so cost wise, what is the best solution, I really dont want to sell my car because in my situation I cant, even though if you might say to sell mine and have 2 grand for an LS. So, the car that I can work on is onjly mine. My goal is around 200 hp, but at least 175.
And, do the chips work on MX6's? With 900, im sure i can get some decent gains! Oh, I'm so confused!!! Srry if I am a pain! But I need help! |

Why did you buy if you thought it was so weak to begin with? Why didn't you just find the MX-6 with a 2.5 already in it?

Re: Help please on engine swap!!!:) Very Important!
The thing is, I wasnt really looking to buy a car last Saturday. A Mazda was not even on my choice list, but my dad loves mazdas and said he would get it for me so I said what the hell. The thing is, I didnt think they were that weak until I did research which was after I already had the car. So I am stuck with this car. Plus I liked the look and didnt know there was a V6, because if I knew all the information (the little I do klnow now) trust me, I would have opted out and got a V6. But, I'll be satisfied with approx. 175 hp and same tq.

Also, if anybody knows what works on the 4cyl and pricing or even some websites, can you please post them because i have been searching and can hardly find anything. But again, how hard would a v6 swap be?mounts, ect... included, just somebody lead me on the right path and I will be very grateful!!!!
