96 Grand am SE 2.4l wont start

For the last two days the car would have a hard time starting, i would have to try a few times before it would fire up. It seemed like the car wouldnt turn over. Well yesterday my car finally wouldnt start at all, i tried till i killed the battery and was getting that clicking noise, then nothing. So i tried to jump it, the car would barley start to turn over then nothing. It seems like the starting is not engaging, idk. I think i can hear the starter spinning or something spinning when i turn the key and it stops cranking (which is only for a second). Not sure if its a starter or a solenoid or something else. please help, im at work with my other car, and i need to fix it soon of i dont leave it up at work for too long
