I wish that I had a car that handled nearly as

good as a 81 Ferrari. This is from a 1981 Lancia Brochure. The quote is from a world champion Formula One racer.

There are a couple of Lancia Zagatos for sale now on E-bay. One is 1982 convertible. It looks tough. I think that they are really cool, and I think that it would make a fun daily driver with a little bit of work. I think that it would look pretty racey.

Wink Lancia

It is quite lame to announce that Lancia was never on the top of the luxury manufacturers. I wonder what is LUXURY car for some, 3 tone Cadillac with 0-60mph in 2 hours.
Have a look at the magazines from the 50,60,70 and comparison test; for example test between Flaminia and Aston Martin Vantage, ops some people may not consider Aston Martin as a Luxury car after all.

What were characteristics of the top of the range Cadilac when Lancia released Aurelia B20..................... or Flaminia Superlagera.......... Recently Thema 8.32 and list goes on.

Before FIAT, Lancia was a brand that brought Luxury and Sports performance together in a one car.

Unlike other brands when Lancia released new car you knew that it is completely designed new car.

I've recently bought a 1962 Flaminia GT. Except for the heavy steering in town, it drives like a modern car. It has:

A rear transaxle for nearly perfect weight distribution
An aluminum body.
An alloy V6.
Michelin X radials (they were standard).
A windshield washer that still works!
Four-wheel disc brakes (inboard at the rear).

It was indeed far ahead of its time. Of course, it cost $7200 new, which was a pretty big price tag in 1962. It cruises beautifully at 90--not on public roads, of course :-)

I don't get a lot of performance if that means straight-line speed. It's not the fastest car on the road through the gears (10 sec 0-60). But I'll take a high-speed corner and hang the tail out with just about anyone.

If you look at fiats, alfas and lancias you can tell that they are all made by fiat and just as pontiacs, chevy's and buicks, they have many interchangeable parts. I believe they have some great technology involved. The big knock is that most of the older Itlalian cars are notorioulsy major rust buckets.

None of that applies to my car. It was made before Fiat bought them, and it's an aluminum body.

Most older cars, no matter where they came from, are rust buckets.

i own 2 lancia Zagato's at the moment and i'm fixing to import an delta evo to the US...

lancia's are fun cars to drive with but by no means cheap , they are very high in maintanance.

Btw Fiat/Lancia stopped export to the US in 1982 , so that's the last model that's available if it wasn't custom imported.Zagato's are harder and harder to find with every passing year as these cars are very prone to rust , and if you have one and let it go it will turn into a heap of scrap metal in no time.

the Fiat/Lacian dual overhead cam motor has been in production for over 18 years and has hardly gone thru any heavy modifications between the years.

For tuning the dual carbs are better then the newer Fuel injected car.

i mean look at the delta S4.... 1800 CC , but making a little over 400 hp's , 400 hp's is not unheard of with the 2000cc fiat/lancia motors but they get very prone to fatal errors if you try to get them up that far.

mine is supposed to go on the dyno somewhere next week to see where we are at at the moment right now these parts are changed :


*Camshaft replaced with an 306 degrees
*an dual carb conversion kit (mine was an FI originaly)
*2 45 DCOE webers
*Custom exhaust headers ( as factories are not longer available)
*Enlarged Intake and exhaust valves
*210 lb comp valve springs (to elimintae valve flutters)
*9.8:1 high comp. pistons
*high volume fuel pump + regulator
*infinite adjustable timing gears
* ignition system has been changed

beyond that i have brought the head away to have it shaved and pressure tested to make sure it's not going to give me any problems.and the cranks was polished and balanced for optimum performance , aswell as the clutch was replaced with an competition group and plate and the flywheel was changed with an lighter one.

all in all this car is very fun to drive and it will leave most US sportscars standing at the traffic light , and if raced quite a few juppies in bmw's , mercedes , mustangs, camaros but none can touch this car.

its light with an amazing accelaration from 0-60.

This twin turbo lancia engine was actually outlawed from rally racing due to its overwhelming power band.

140 kw/200+- hk, i think..with overboost
Pinafarina edition, not many alive to day, they have many engine problems, and rust prob. but very quick
