04-05 WRX vs 93-98 twin turbo supra
my car is going to my younger brother soon, i also have a 2000 toyota tundra, but my parents think its a little too much power for a new driver so hes gettin my tC. my budget is about 25,000. i know that is about the base price of a new wrx, but i realllllly dont care for the styling at all ( the 06 models) what are your thoughts pros and cons..tnx in advance.

the supra destroys the wrx in every category. plus youll be one of few people who own one, instead of the many who own wrx's.

Well Supras are better than WRX's and thats about the end of that story. Even if you overlook the performance the wrx is ugly anyway.

Re: 04-05 WRX vs 93-98 twin turbo supra
I don't think that you can really compare the two. While the supra is hands down faster, with the supra you are buying a very old car for alot of money. Will you have money to spend on the car if and when it breaks? The supra is, in reality, not even in the same class as the WRX. I believe that they were over $40k new.
Edit: from the research I have done, it looks like you have to spend over $25k for anything under 125k miles. or you would have a wrx with 0 miles. Have you thought of a mazdaspeed 3? 260 hp but fwd

Re: 04-05 WRX vs 93-98 twin turbo supra
Ever heard of depreciation?
for starters, you can't get a 98. those are over $40k. You think that spending nearly 30k for a japanese car that is 12 years old is not absurd. These things aren't considered classics yet, and should not be treated as such. Most of the cars already have mods, so it is nearly impossible to find one stock and in good condition.

tell me about it. the second gen supras are much more of a bargain, but the styling isnt my cup of tea. while the last gen, is quite pricey

Re: 04-05 WRX vs 93-98 twin turbo supra
people pay 100 grand for old hemi muscle cars. so why not 30 grand for something much more up to date and much bettter performing? the supra will be a true classic one day, and youll be glad you got your hands on one. but i agree, it is hard to find an un-molested stock mk4.

I think people that buy hemis right now have way too much money for there own good. I would consider the Mr2 turbo as a much cheaper alternative. Not as fast(stock), but I am sure that it is fun none the less

Re: 04-05 WRX vs 93-98 twin turbo supra
Supras are outrageously overpriced. And about the "old hemi muscle car" bit, its not all of them that are getting 100 grand its only the road runners and low volume models. I mean a cobra isn't going to fetch that much over time but the 2000 Cobra R will likely keep increasing value as it has already over just 7 years. A supra, though a fine car, isn't really going to appreciate in value the same way (unless there was some collectors model or something)

Re: 04-05 WRX vs 93-98 twin turbo supra
yea, but most muscle cars are going for ridiculous prices, while maybe not 100 grand but still alot. but think about it, in 20 years the supra will be a performance icon as well. and people will pay outrageous money for one. same way with the 300zx, rz-7, nsx, 300gt, z28, trans am, cobra, and c5 corvettes. when the people who grew up around these get old and rich they will be in high demand. also because people are more accepting of foreign cars nowadays than in the 60s and 70s. lol a 72 mustang will fetch a pretty penny while a 72 celica will fetch you hardly anything.

I have always said that the NSX will be worth a fortune in the future because so few people saw fit too purchase them. Good ones will be rare as hell.

Those cars will be worth something.... more than most cars, but not 100 grand like the low production cars. They will always be desirable to someone being the type of niche car that they all are. On a side note...... I have always thought that the coolest cars didnt have a slow model. Like the RX7 and Corvette. There is no V6 Corvette or Non turbo FD. |
