99 Cougar Brake and Reverse Light Problem.

I noticed on the passenger side the brake light is also Paired with the reverse light. When I press on the brake BOTH the brake light and the white reverse light will come on. I thought it was odd until I put my car in reverse and realized that the reverse light will NOT come on. Now it's only on the right side (passenger side) the other side works perfectly. Also my inside light that signal's an "external" light is out has been on. I think it has to do with this problem. I was wondering if the wiring could be wrong or if there was any way to fix it. I didn't want to put it in the shop because they tend to take "advantage" of girls. Hopefully it's something simple I can fix without spending an arm and a leg. -Thanks!

Re: 99 Cougar Brake and Reverse Light Problem.

Thanks, but that didn't help I've already replaced both brake lights with no such luck. Auto Zone is saying it could be bad wiring I hope they are wrong.

Re: 99 Cougar Brake and Reverse Light Problem.

are you able to check for voltage??do you have access to volt meter??
check for 12v, trace wiring back to where they split left/right should
be a connector.
is there a trailer hitch on car? these have been suspect on some cars
you need to look at a wire diagram, someone will chime in with wiring info
