1990 ford tempo air compressor

The air conditioning has recently gone out in my tempo. After some messing around I found out that it was the compessor. Is this an easy fix, and how much should I count on this costing me?

Re: 1990 ford tempo air compressor

Are you going to do it yourself if so get a price on a compressor from a parts store or junk yard ,a new filter dryer and expansion valve or tube which ever it has listed.
Inspect all hoses and look for any signs of oil leakage. Price 3 or 4 cans of refrigerant. A tag on the compressor should list ounces. Also buy some compressor oil. You will need a vacuum pump and a set of hoses with gages.
Air cond. disconnect tools.
Otherwise call some independent repair shops. Get a full estimate cutting out some parts generally will cost you some money.
Check for leaks when done with a leak tester.
