318 questions

Hey guys, im a regular but new to the bmw forum, so be patient.I have an 84 318 that seems to have a small but difficult to locate issue-as in it wont run but i cant find y. i replaced the fuel pump with a good one, the pressure regulator, and ignition parts like the cap, rotor, wires, etc. it has spark, and as far as i can tell it has fuel and pressure all the way to the injectors.i know they work, at least briefly, because if i go to start it, it will fire and rev momentarily, but then die.i may have it narrowed to an issue with either the cold start enrichment solenoid or the coolant temp sending unit from the thermostat housing, except theres unfortunately 3 of those i really like the little car, and im a pretty good mechanic, but i dont have enough experience to know the tendencies of these models.it seems tho that this would be an issue common with these cars as they age, so im hoping someone has had a similar issue or maybe someone with knowledge of the fuel and electronics of these models could help.anything would be good tho, thanks.

Re: 318 questions

somethin else that might help tho is if anybody knows of a place to find parts to upgrade the out of date fuel and ignition systems of the car, like replacing the bosch injection with something simpler and more modern.its kinda hard to get good leads to websites by just doing random internet searches

hmmm you might want to check the brain box and see if anything has been damaged somehow or it could be mass airflow meter and my buddy said it might also be the oxygen sensor
