Accident question
i got into an accident saturday morning and my car is in the body shop now. i was wondering when is a car considered totaled. i drive a fully loaded toyota solara sle v6 and at most it should be worth around $18,000 -20,000. from what i can tell the front quarter panel neededs to be replaced, the axel might be bent, the wiper fluid box needs to be replaced, and underbody plastic needs to be fixed since its scraping my tire and wont let me open the passenger side door (the door isnt damaged from what i can tell).
how much of the current price does the cost haver to exceed for it to be considered totaled

Re: Accident question
In NYS, 70% of the retail value is considered a total, every state is different but that is around what it usually is.

Re: Accident question
well the blue book value of the car is around 18,000 usd and i got the estimate from the insurance company 1,800 usd so iguess its not totaled. there might be more costs but it doesnt look like itll be totaled
