Calmini Add-A-Leafs and Shackles installation
Just got these. I will be installing them with a Torsion Bar upgrade and possibly putting Rancho 9000's on.
Are the AAL's a real pain to do?? I have tools, jack, jack stands etc. Any advice appreciated. Cheers |

"Real pain to do?" Nope. Second set of hands was very helpful, though.
You have a jack as a floor jack? BIG c-clamps are good... One note...before you tighten the bolt to put all the leaves together, make sure that those two Calmini leaves are put in between evenly. I can't remember if each side has different length from the center (bolt hole), but leaves line up right when they are put together. ....like each end, leaves goes longer and longer (shortest, shorter, medium length, longer, longest.) Man, it's hard to explain... |

Thanks - I am looking forward to getting it done if the rest of my order ever shows up. Rick and I are going to make a go of it and do the upgrades soon.
Sure will be nice since my rear leafs flattened awhile back.. Cheers |

Visual Support of Inst.
Here are some pictures that we took during the Calmini AAL Installation.
pics The last two pictures show good comparison of what it looks like with AAL. However, Salsa X (with AAL) has SLR 2" shackles, and the tire is 31x10.50R15. Silver X has SLR 2" shackles, and the tire is equivalent to 32". I just recently installed Calmini A-Arms as well. The rear still sits a bit higher than the front. Here are some more pictures. pics The left most Silver X has 32" tires and AC 3" lift. Middle one is mine. Silver X on the right most has t-bar cranked a bit, and SLR 2" shckles in the rear only at this point. Notice that Left Silver X sits taller than mine, and Right Silver X is as tall as mine (w/ Calmini 3" lift). It's just some interesting pictures of what slightly different set up X's look like. (mostly tire SIZE MATTER! ) |

I hate those things...to post pics or links.
I'm working on fixing the link. Please be patient. |

AAL
How's this one? ....Okay, I give up. I'll be uploading those pictures on this site shortly.. Left (Driver side) control arm Right (Passenger side) control arm AC lift + 32" tires (Silver X) & Calmini lift + 31" tires (Salsa X) Side by Side I'd like to upload two more pictures of AAL, but they are too big to upload. (this site limits to 100K). ...I can directly send you those two pic, though. Any better suggestion? Last edited by Schludwiller; 05-09-2002 at 03:38 PM. |

XSAL - You were using URL tags instead of IMG tags. I fixed the links for you in your message.
Cheers. |

Well the install went great with the help of Rick, Chuck and Jens. Not too log or painful. Thanks you guys!!!
Torsion bars, add-a-leafs and Calmini swaybar quick disconnects installed and looking good. Left off the shackles as I need the A-arms first... Cheers |
