Need info on LS/VTEC
I'm getting a USDM B18B from a friends dad who owns a junk yard and I'm going to buy a B16 head off of ebay or wherever I can find one the cheapest. I need any and all info on building this motor, opinions are welcome, and any help is appreciated. If you know of any links to info on the subject or are well versed in it yourself, please share. Its not like I don't know anything about the swap, but I just want to learn as much as possible before getting into it. My plans are to rebuild the block and put in some lower compression slugs because I want to do a custom turbo setup, possibly running around 12 lbs of boost. If you know of anywhere to get the head for a good price, hit me up too. I was told that I will be able to use all of my existing VTEC wiring and plumbing so thats not an issue, but what else should I look out for? Thanks.

B18B is already relatively low compression.

you'll benefit from the VTEC head. any type of power adder always makes power over the baseline power output. so if you start with 140 hp, you'll get 140 + boosted hp. if you start with 160hp, you'll get 160 + boosted hp, basically 20hp more than you would have before.
plus, the VTEC valvetrain is able to be beefed up with better springs to keep high boost from sticking your valves open, should you ever boost that high. |
