Accident... Totaled??
Hey all!
I just recently got into an accident (T-boned), and my car is damaged. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how much it may cost to fix? Or if you think insurance may total it? I was hit in the driver's side door. The side airbags deployed, and the door was pushed in on the bottom, but there is about a three inch gap on the top where the door should meet the frame. Also, there is fender damage, and the wheel is bent in. Suspension damage? (I attached a quick pic I took before it was towed. Not the greatest picture of the damage though.) Thanks! |

It's a 2006. It only has about 45,000 miles though.

Re: Accident... Totaled??
Assuming a trade in value in the 5200 range, I would think they would repair it. It doesn't look too bad to me. Judging by just the one photo, I would take a wild guess and say that fixing it would cost the insurance company no more than 2700 to 3000. Most of that is just straightforward bodywork which is not too expensive. You run into the big bucks these days with any kind of front end collision which usually wipes out the cooling system, the fuse box and lots of other little expensive things that add up quickly. If the suspension/drivetrain damage turns out to be worse than it looks, however, you can get in to "totalled" territory which is usually around 75% of bluebook. It doesn't look that bad though. Good luck and let us know what happens. Glad you were not seriously injured.

Re: Accident... Totaled??
I notice some difference in the front wheel camber. Probably have some front suspension damage as well. Hopefully this did not affect the transaxle differential.

Re: Accident... Totaled??
Not sure about side airbags but if your front ones deploy most of the time your insurance will total the car immediately. The damage does not look that extensive but I can't see the actual frame & underlying damage. Good luck...
