1993 Senoma pickup A/C Switch!!!!!!

My A/c switch on the panel will not let me turn my a/c/ to anything but high. Sometimes my a/c will not come on unless I slide the switch back and forth a few times. It is 110 degrees in SW Oklahoma. Please help I need to fix this..

Re: 1993 Senoma pickup A/C Switch!!!!!!

I'm feeling your pain, zsmartin. My 98 4.3l is doing the same thing. It took me awhile to figure out that it is the switch, and I came here to find an answer like you did. As of now, my A/C is working only because I just happened to get it to work one time, and I have not touched that evil switch since then. It stays in the On position at all times now until I get time to mess with it.

I don't have any helpful advice for you, sorry to say. Just wanted to add my voice to the cry for help and let you know that it is also very, very hot and humid here in SW Arizona.

Re: 1993 Senoma pickup A/C Switch!!!!!!

assuming the magnets that engage the compressor are functioning, i just clipped the wires about 6 inches from the connector to the compressor, then wired a rocker switch (lighted when ON) in the cab to the compressor, taking the power directly from the battery. I can still select the a/c functions with the factory switch, and turn the compressor on and off seperately with my own rocker switch. I bought everything at the auto parts store for under ten dollars. could even add an in line fuse for peace of mind.
