Tuning up a V8 VZ Holden Commodore

Any ideas on how you could possibly tune up a V8 (NOT V6) VZ Holden Commodore? Can you add turbo systems in V8 engines or is it just too ineffective? How much STOCK power does a HSV Maloo Ute possess?

www.hsv.com.au
Look up the Maloo ute's specs there, it should tell you.

Also, there's a website that deals specifically for supercharging Holdens. I can't remember it, search for "supercharged holden" at www.yahoo.com.au

Re: Tuning up a V8 VZ Holden Commodore

www.capa.com.au
They have single turbo, twin turbo and supercharged setups with decent pricing for the Gen 3 and Gen 4 V8 Commodores.

www.harrop.com.au
Harrop have some awesome kits for the LS1 and LS2 V8 Commodores as well, with brakes and suspension systems to match

Your car will have 297Kw@flywheel stock(about 215Kw@wheels)

man, dw bout forced air induction for now. just fix the intake because they can be restrictive. Then just stoke it. go naturally aspirated.

Re: Tuning up a V8 VZ Holden Commodore

The HSV 6L motor does not have a restrictive intake system though, as they use a 4" intake pipe which was previously used on the 5.7 Gen 3 GTS Commodores.

On a dollar for dollar basis, the Harrop supercharger kit is excellent value More Hp per dollar spent.

However, Harrop also have an 8 throttle induction kit which combined with new camshafts and more engine comprseeion, should see over 600Hp@crankshaft(450Kw)

It is very hard to stroke the 6L LS2 Gen IV motor unless you want to spend the same amount of money as the Harrop supercharger kit...
