1969 CS Coupe - Detective Work!
Hello all,
I recently “inherited” a 1969 CS Couple from my ailing father and have a ton of questions about it that he is unable to answer due to his condition. I have joined this forum in the hopes of getting some assistance. To the best of my knowledge, the car is a 1969 CS Coupe which was purchased in Holland as a "wreck", shipped to Ontario, Canada in the mid-eighties and then restored by my father and a friend. His friend's name was Ernie De Voss (sp?) and I remember he used to own a BMW-specific garage somewhere in Ontario called "BimmerHausen". I had planned to contact Ernie about the car (I haven't seen him since I was 12 or so) but was saddened to learn when I searched for him online that he was hit by a car and killed a couple of years ago in Florida. Now, I am back at square one and joining this forum. I am enclosing a couple of pictures of the car and will take more, particularly of the interior, in the very near future. I do know that all the glass is original and the body is in very good to excellent condition with no rust visible. The dashboard is also original as I remember my father refused to have a radio installed because it would ruin the original 1969 experience. I drove it briefly around my neighborhood here in Portland, Ontario (an hour West of Ottawa) a week ago and it started on the first turn. Other than what I have mentioned above, I know very little about this gorgeous car and would appreciate some guidance from the experts as to the exact model number, origin/history (via the VIN number), etc. I hope to be able to learn enough to keep it on the road and maintain it for many years to come - although my Mother is intent on selling it. I'm not exactly sure what will happen. Thank you in advance, and I look forward to meeting some of you.
