92 SE throttle position sensor resistance range
My 92 SE is experiencing sudden drops in RPMs, surfing the net I have found that this could be caused by a malfunction of the throttle position sensor, I have noticed a blinking light on the comfort/power automatic transmission selector, so I followed the procedure to identify the code, it turns out that the code points to the throttle position sensor. I have checked the TPS with an ohm meter and I get a minimum of 400 ohms and a maximum of 10,700 ohms. In some other web page, I found a discussion about the range of resistance for a 95 maxima, and the range was 500 to 4000.
Does anybody know the TPS resistance range in ohms for a 92 SE? |

Re: 92 SE throttle position sensor resistance range
Finally I have got it, the TPS for these maxima generation works the other way around. It starts with a high resistance which decreases as you depress the acceleration pedal. The ECU gives an initial voltage of 10 volts, so the TPS must be calibrated at 10,000 ohms for the initial value (acceleration pedal fully released), since I = V/R it sounds reasonable. I calibrated it using an ohm meter and it runs excellent, no more drops in RPMs. Also the TPS was kind of wet and perhaps that was why it was signaling wrongly.
Thanks. Miguel. |
