Has anyone swaped heads from a 93 to a 99?

My 93 auto shot a rod right through the case. I was able to find a replacement out of a 99 (22k). engine, tranny, cv's and intake. The tranny looks like it will plug right up, with the exception of moving the motor mount. the cv's look the same diameter etc.

But the intake is another question. One is the high-low port issue. The second is the wiring harness, and the 3rd involves the condition of the 93 heads and the finial would be will I be able to shut my hood with the 99 intake if I were to use it.

I would like to use it, but not sure what kind of can of worms that would be involved in changing the wireing harness to accomidate the 99 intake.

So the options are:

A. swap heads.
1. will they fit?
2. cam timing, how difficult is this?
OR
B. no head swap.
1.wire harness swap, this sounds like a nightmare.
2.will I need a hood scoop?
3.do I need to change out any engine management parts
4.if this is possibe, how much $.

Anyone been down this road before and have any comments?

I have ordered a service manual that has not arrivied yet.

A better option would be to just get a JDM SR20DE that will bolt right in.

As my header says

Yes, I am a newbe, not only to this list but to Nissan engines.

I have a p-10 with a blown engine and the oppertunity came up with a 99 engine with a tranny and a drive shaft that has 22k on the clock for next to nothing.

The tranny lines up, I swapped the heads, when I went to set the timming on the cams, the links did not line up with the mating marks.

Everything is done but removing the front cover, or the timing cover.

This is diffuicult because I have the bolts from the front removed but I'm concerend about just "prying" it away from the block.

It looks like the head and the oil pan holds it into place.

Not quite sure, my only expirence has been in Porsche and Chevy engines. They are totally different. No comparision.

Oh yea, can't leave out Ford.

hello frog,
ive done this swap myself and i would forget trying to to do a complete head swap instead just swap the intake manifold for the old unit to the new complete, the only hard bit is the breather pipe[cam cover to air box] will need to be modifided and you will have the plus of the roller rocker cam set up [a big plus if you want to tune the car].

the timing chain cover is a complete pain in the arse to remove and i'm sure anyone else will agree. the best way i found to do this is remove sump pan and housing [the part in between the pan and block] then get yourself a rubber malet, maul, hammer or whatever you guys in the texas call them and give it a hard time this sounds easy but that gaskit seal is very strong and the castings will snap if you are to heavy handed. after this it's more of the same with the side cover you can use a flat screwdrive but again use care at my nissan dealer the caes that also holds the oil pump is 600 pounds plus vat so please take care. as for the camshaft timing this best done with the motor out and service manual with a step by step guide.
hope this helps.
